Welcome
Thanks for viewing our Life in the Northwoods website. We live in Northern Wisconsin in Vilas County and are surrounded by lakes, rivers, and wildlife of all kinds. We spend our days watching animals of all kinds like albino white-tailed deer, deer, bear, wolves, eagles, loons and many others. Vilas County is home to some 1320 lakes, which is one of the highest densities of lakes in the world. There are rivers and over 250 lakes within 7 miles of our house which offer some of the most spectacular landscapes a person could ever dream of. We decided to share our life in the Northwoods with anyone who is interested in nature, wildlife and scenic photography. We hope you enjoy these photos as much as we enjoyed taking them.

Albino White-tailed Deer
Albino Deer or "White Deer" are a very rare breed of White-tailed Deer in Northern Wisconsin. There are only 200 to 300 Albinos in the entire state of Wisconsin. We are very lucky to live near a State Forest and lots of private land. Albinos are protected in Northern Wisconsin and can not be hunted.
Latest News
July 29, 2010
The four Albino Whitetail Deer does that live near our land have all had their fawns and should be bringing them to the meadow any day now. We are hoping some of the fawns will be white fawns. There are so many predators, like wolves and bears around here, that they hide their fawns till they are quite big and can run to escape any danger. As soon as we see any of the fawns we will be posting pictures of them on the website.
There will be a new Albino "White Deer " video we will be posting on You Tube as soon as we are finished processing it.
We put new Albino pictures on each week so check back to see the latest.
